Remembering Joy Daugherty
ABOUT JOY
For more than 45 years, Joy centered the culture at Interiorscapes around relationships among the team and our clients. Interiorscapes’ relationships have been about service, care and exceeding expectations. After having a stroke on March 20th, we lost Joy Daugherty 10 days later on March 30, 2024.
The team at Interiorscapes, Joy’s extended family, mourns the loss of our founder and friend. Our services continue as Joy would want and while we may feel a little dimmer on the inside, we will continue to bring the color to our clients in memory of Joy.

Joy was like a second mom to me for 15 years. She was a great boss and great person. She cared so muh for her employees. Like her name, she brought so much joy to everyone she was around – and she could sell wood to a forest! Till we meet again – Love

Joy was the nicest human that I’ve ever known. That is not an exaggeration. I’ve been telling people this for years. I will miss her unique soul immensely.

I did not even know her for a year, yet it felt like I knew her for a lifetime. A mother to us all, she never gave up on anyone. Her joyful spirit was contagious, as she was always cheering us on, no matter the occasion. I wish I could have one last lunch date with her, sharing sushi appetizers and laughing about everything and nothing. The impact she has made on our community cannot go unnoticed. She will always be the plant lady; she will always be in my heart. My last happy memory of her was sharing strawberry ice cream in the break room at work. She always made time for me, so I will continue to make time for her by making her proud and carrying on her sweet spirit. I will never forget my second mother, Joy Daugherty and neither should anyone else who had the pleasure of meeting her.

In life there are many people we meet in our lives, but only a few make a lasting impression in our mind and hearts. Joy was that person. She cared about the happiness and well-being of the Interiorscapes Family and offered her love and support to each one. We will think of her often and we will always strive to make her proud. She was one in a million and we were very fortunate to have worked under her

My friendship with Joy was not as long as others but she became one of those “in the trenches” friends. She had the gift of being cheerleader and telling you what you need to hear. Generous, thoughtful, uplifting…Joy had a way of leaving you in better shape than she found you at every interaction.

I met Joy over 25 years ago. I felt an instant connection to her. Joy possessed the gift of a kind spirit. She always greeted me with a smile and made me feel that whatever project we may have been working on was the most important one she ever had. She was sincerely interested in how I was doing and wanted to know everything that was going on with my family. She cared about people. Joy loved deeply. I have such admiration for Joy and the wonderful company she created – spanning so many years and touching so many lives. Our friendship is a blessing I will forever be thankful for. Joy – you will be missed more than you could have ever imagined. Heaven has gained another sweet angel! I love you sweet friend.

It is with a heavy heart that I share my tribute to honor the remarkable life of Joy Daugherty. For over 45 years, Joy was the driving force behind Interiorscapes, infusing spaces with greenery and transforming them into havens of beauty. She was a beacon of light, grace, and kindness to all who knew her.
I first met Joy five years ago when our corporate headquarters moved to downtown Birmingham. Seeking her expertise to create a professional and elegant environment, Joy became more than a business owner to us; she was our guiding light. From interior greenery to meticulously chosen Christmas trees adorned with ornaments, she poured her heart into every detail. Joy’s tireless efforts ensured that our vision became a reality.
But beyond business, Joy and I forged a deep friendship. Our conversations ranged from our children’s milestones to dreams for the future. She was a listener—an ear attuned to every word, a hand ever ready to help, and a hug that conveyed warmth and solace. Joy’s warmth and genuine care are what truly set her apart.
I loved Joy dearly, and I will miss her terribly. Life will not be the same without her. Her love knew no bounds. Her kindness was a beacon, her thoughtfulness a gift. She radiated class and drove change with unwavering determination. Trust flowed from her like a gentle stream, and her generosity knew no limits.
As we bid farewell, let us celebrate Joy’s legacy. She now graces heaven with her radiance, just as she did here on earth. I will miss her dearly, but I take solace in knowing that her radiant spirit now resides in heaven, where she continues to shine just as brightly as she did here on earth.candice canterberry
Joy Daugherty was a remarkable lady with so much love to give, and her absence leaves a void that can never be filled. But her legacy of kindness, generosity, and grace will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. Until we meet again, dear friend, may you rest in eternal peace. With all my love
Joy Daugherty was a beacon of passion and joy in and of herself. Her dedication to Interiorscapes was deeply intertwined with her desire to fill others with happiness. Joy’s vibrant approach to life was truly infectious; her presence alone fostered personal and professional growth to all those around her. She had a remarkable gift for seeing people completely, a gift she graciously extended to me, teaching me the art of listening genuinely and putting others first. Her legacy of selflessness and heartfelt hospitality has left an indelible mark on all of us at Renaissance Ross Bridge Golf Resort & Spa.
Interiorscapes, under Joy’s guidance, has been a cornerstone of our resort’s success. Joy’s spirit of support and improvement has been a constant source of inspiration. As we celebrate her life and legacy, we take comfort in knowing her profound love for others and her zest for life will continue to thrive through the incredible team at Interiorscapes that she so carefully assembled.jonathan mckinney, cmp
